QUOTE(R I C E R @ Feb 27 2009, 06:22 PM) I hate dealing with people like that, i had the same proble with comp. clutches. Yeah, I tried to explain to him that I knew what I needed. He tried selling me a low priced harmonic balancer. I asked if it was any good quality wise. His response was "It will do good on a street driven Mustang, with low horsepower." I laughed and told him it was my "track" car, and never see's the street. I finally got the right part's in this morning. It's cold and wet, so we may not be working on it today tho. If I knew enough I would finish by myself, but I don't feel confident enough to finish alone. Jake

We finally had a really good day. After waiting on Summit to send the right parts, and the cold snowy day yesterday. We got the engine hooked up to the trans, bolted it in, and got the heads bolted down. We ran out of sunlight, so we will finish up in the morning. It's looking like tomorrow should rap things up since we have all the parts here waiting. The only thing that might slow us down is, I think I may have misplaced a few nuts and bolts. But there is an Autozone, Oreily's and Advance less than a mile away. Here are a few more pics of the progress. I thought I took some pics of the flexplate, and balancers but can't find them on my computer. Pulling the old engine out. We took it apart and everything looks great. We did notice that exhaust was leaking through the head gaskets on 2 cylinders. So that may have been a major cause in the way it ran. Along with every nut and bolt being finger loose. The SCE ICS Titans. They are an 0.080" compressed thickness. I got them that thick to drop the CR a little. With a 0.40" gasket it was around 10.25:1, and now its around 9.25:1. I have Snow Performance Meth Injection, and may switch to race gas later on so I think I will be safe. Tomorrow we will bolt the intake, carb, and turbo down. Then start setting the timing, and do a little tuning. I plan on taking it to Dyno and Performance this weekend for a better tune, and see what numbers I can get. Jake

And you are ok with it Let me know what you decide to do. I'm not sure when I will be going up there. I need to see what day's they would have time to tune it first. Jake

We decided to leave the turbo off until we had the timing and rockers set. Luckily we did because it shot quite a few 5ft+ flames out of the carb, and headers today. If the turbo would have been hooked up, it probably would have been damaged.
We got the timing, and rockers set down perfect, but never could get it to run right. We finally came to the conclusion that the carb isn't any good. We also noticed that the secondary's were never hooked up so it wasn't running near as good as it could have on the old motor. I am in the process of picking out a new carb. Once I find one, and it comes in, all we have left is tuning it. Then it will be ready for the dyno.

The guy I bought it from said it needed to be replaced/rebuilt when I got it. I just kept putting it off since the car never ran right. It's hard to explain on the internet but if you saw it in person you would definitely know it's not working right. It's acting like it's either starving for fuel, or the bowl's are flooding out. Yes it's a Holley 750 DP converted to blow-thru. I think I may have found a Demon 1100cfm, just waiting on the guy to come up with an asking price. Jake

QUOTE(Torched_03 @ Mar 3 2009, 12:04 PM) looks like you guys are making great progress...im excited to see the finished project! We were making great progress. We are a little stuck right now. The engine is in and assembled, but isn't running. It will fire up and run for a few seconds then flood out. So I am probably going to buy a new carb, or possibly get my current rebuilt. We also figured out that the cam wasn't degree'd before it was shipped out. So we are pulling the timing cover off tomorrow to see if the cam timing is off. I'm hoping that it is, and hasn't caused any damage, so that way we can fix it. If that's the problem it should run right once fixed. If not, than I will be on a carb hunt. So that way I can take it to Cville saturday. Jake

It finally runs for a couple seconds. We should have the turbo, etc on by the end of the day, and hopefully take it to cville tomorrow. Other than the turbo we have a little bit of tuning left
Big thanks to Ryan for his input and extra pair of hands. He really did help a lot. I will try to get some video once it runs for more than a few seconds.

she sounds nice man its going to be beast I can tell. I think its just getting way too much fuel and floods out. just lean the carb out little by little and see how that goes.
